Sequoyah Regional Library System
The Sequoyah is a monthly publication of the Sequoyah Regional Library System.
Dear SRLS Community,

We aren’t April Fooling when we say there’s a ton happening at SRLS this month! Each of our locations is inviting you to “Connect with Your Library” with special Meet-&-Greet events taking place during National Library Week (April 3-9). Of course, we can’t celebrate National Library Week without our annual Fine Forgiveness Program and an accompanying Beanstack Reading Challenge. We’re also excited to annouce “Ask Us!” Sessions, which make it possible for you to receive one-on-one help by reserving time with a staff member at any of our libraries. With so much going on, it’s never been easier to connect with your library!

Connect with Your Library for National Library Week!

National Library Week is April 3-9! This year’s theme, “Connect with Your Library”, highlights the need for communities to connect with ideas and opportunities to explore, learn, and create, which we at Sequoyah Regional Library System have (quite literally) declared to be our mission. During National Library Week, each of our seven libraries is hosting a Library Meet-&-Greet event, open to the public with no registration required and (as always) no fee to attend.

Monday, April 4: R.T. Jones Memorial Library (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
Tuesday, April 5: Rose Creek Public Library (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
Tuesday, April 5: Ball Ground Public Library (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM)
Wednesday, April 6: Hickory Flat Public Library (3:00 PM - 7:00 PM)
Wednesday, April 6: Gilmer County Library (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
Thursday, April 7: Woodstock Public Library (11:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
Thursday, April 7: Pickens Grab-&-Go (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM)

All ages are invited to drop-in, meet with library staff, enjoy activities, and learn about the experiences, programming, and services we offer. For example, did you know that Chromebooks and Wi-Fi hotspots can be checked out from the library? How about musical instruments? Sewing machines? Free passes to state parks and other local attractions? Now’s your chance to “connect” with your library and discover the value of your library card.

Celebrate National Library Week with Fine Forgiveness!
Have you been putting off visiting your library because of fines? Sequoyah Regional Library System is offering a fine forgiveness program in honor of National Library Week (April 3-9). During this week only, visit any Sequoyah library to be forgiven up to $15 in overdue fines per library card. To participate, visit or contact your local Sequoyah library during National Library Week (April 3-9), tell a staff member that you wish to take advantage of fine forgiveness, and they’ll waive up to $15 from your account! Some fees may be excluded. For more information and a list of answers to frequently asked questions, visit our official webpage.

Introducing Library “Ask Us!” Sessions
Our libraries have launched a new service called“Ask Us!” Sessions which allow visitors to receive one-on-one help by reserving time (up to 30 minutes per session) with a library staff member in person, by phone, or virtually. Sessions can be reserved by calling your library or by visiting SequoyahRegionalLibrary.org and clicking “Contact Us”. Our staff can help you learn to use library technology, access e-Library services, learn basic computer skills, and more. Normally librarians help people find books, but this is your chance to “book” a librarian!

Pickens County Library
Renovation Project Update
Our Pickens County Library in Jasper is currently closed to the public for renovation and expansion of its facilities. During construction, a temporary library location called Pickens Grab & Go is available inside the Mountain Education Charter High School building at 339 West Church Street. As of March 18, the slab for the expanded area for the library building has been poured and set. Steel has been erected in that area. To view additional updates and operating hours of Pickens Grab & Go, visit our Pickens County Library Project webpage and FAQ.

Tax Forms & Tax Aid Available
at Libraries!
Need tax forms? Sequoyah Regional Library System provides limited quantities of federal tax forms as a public service. Georgia tax forms  are available online, and copies of some forms can be printed at the library. A small fee is charged for printer usage. Availability of certain tax forms is not guaranteed. SRLS is also hosting tax aid by appointment at select library locations. Visit our official webpage for more information on tax assistance and tax form availability.

There’s something for every fandom at the library! On Saturday, March 19, Sequoyah Regional Library System welcomed over 1,100 people through its doors for Sequoyah-Con, our annual mini-convention featuring popular fandoms, panels, activities, and programs. Attendees unleashed their inner anime fan at Gilmer County Library, explored a world of fantasy at R.T. Jones Memorial Library, and blasted off to a galaxy far, far away at Woodstock Public Library.
